Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is one of the current trends in industries due to the developments brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Education 4.0 in the field of education. In this study, the researcher describes the professional knowledge of teachers regarding AI technology to develop a better program to help them use AI in teaching. This study sought to determine “how knowledgeable are Meycauayan National High School (MNHS) teachers on AI technology?”. Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions: “What is the level of professional knowledge of teachers on AI technology?” and “What In-Service Training program can be conducted based on the teachers’ professional knowledge on AI technology?”
This descriptive study was participated by 32 junior high school teachers from MNHS representing the eight (8) subject areas in four (4) grade levels chosen though simple random sampling done through a wheel of names. The data needed was collected using a survey questionnaire adapted from Celik (2023) containing questions divided into five (5) segments, namely: technological knowledge; pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge, technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK), and ethical principles. The respondents rated their professional knowledge based on each question using a five-point Likert scale where 1 stands for novice, 2 for beginner, 3 for intermediate, 4 for proficient, and 5 for expert. The mean of all scores from the survey was used to describe the overall mean of the teachers’ professional knowledge of AI technology. The researcher ensured that ethical procedures were observed in administering the survey questionnaire.
